Staking FAQ
Quick answers about staking $WLFI, the voting requirement, rewards and delegation. For the full picture, see the Stake $WLFI overview.
Do I have to stake to vote?
No. Any $WLFI you hold can vote: in your wallet, staked, or as locked tokens, and each counts the same. Staking does not add voting power. It makes you eligible for potential rewards in USD1, claimable once your 180 days are up and your votes are in.
How long is my $WLFI locked?
Your initial stake is locked for 180 days. Tokens added during that period unlock on the same date, so they are locked for the remaining time. After that, it stays staked and can continue earning potential rewards while the rewards program remains active, until you claim or unstake. There is no deadline to claim, but the votes you need keep rising every 90 days.
Can I unstake early?
No. Your $WLFI cannot leave the staking contract until the staking position's 180-day lock expires, including any tokens added during that period.
Can I add more later?
Yes, before your position matures. Adding does not restart your 180-day lock, does not reset your vote count and does not require extra votes just because you added more. Added tokens earn rewards from the date they are added. The minimum for each addition is 0.01 $WLFI.
Can I add to my stake after it matures?
No. Once your 180-day minimum has passed, your position cannot be added to. Claim your rewards and restake to start a new term.
How many votes do I need?
One for every full 90 days you have been staked, counted on the day you claim: 2 at 180 days, 3 at 270, 4 at 360. Your staking dashboard shows your count and what you need.
Do I earn rewards before I vote?
Yes. While the program runs, rewards start building the day you stake and keep building until you claim, even after your 180 days are up. Votes decide only when you can claim them.
Which votes count?
A vote on any proposal in the WLFI Snapshot space, cast directly from the wallet you used to stake, after you opened the staking position. Each proposal counts once. Delegated votes and votes cast before you staked do not count.
What if I delegate?
Your $WLFI does not move: it stays in your wallet or staked. Votes you have cast since staking still count, and your delegate’s votes do not count for you. If others delegate to you, you can still vote with that power, and each proposal you vote on counts once toward your claim. If no one delegates to you, remove the delegation to vote again. You can remove or reassign the delegation at any time.
What happens when I claim?
You choose what happens to your $WLFI in the same step. Claim and restake sends your USD1 to your wallet and locks your $WLFI for another 180-day minimum: it keeps earning, and your vote count starts again from zero. Claim and unstake sends your USD1 and your $WLFI to your wallet: earning stops and your position closes.
What happens to my votes after I claim?
They start again from zero. If you restake, you need one vote for every full 90 days of the new period (2 by day 180). If you unstake, your position closes, and a later stake also starts from zero. Adding to your stake does not change your vote count.
What if I fall behind on votes?
If you pass 180 days without enough votes, your rewards keep building while the program runs, but you cannot claim them. Cast the votes you owe and claim. The voting requirement is not reduced if there are too few proposals available to meet it. If you can't catch up, Unstake & forfeit rewards returns your $WLFI to your wallet, and your unclaimed rewards go back to the rewards pool for other stakers. This cannot be undone. Before 180 days there is no exit.
Does staked $WLFI count for more?
No. Staked $WLFI counts the same as $WLFI in your wallet or locked tokens. Staking doesn't change your voting power.
Is there a limit on voting power?
Yes. One holder can vote at most 5,000,000,000 $WLFI, which is 5% of total supply. That applies across all the wallets a person controls, and World Liberty Financial can adjust it to 5% of the $WLFI that can actually vote. Staked $WLFI and locked tokens count toward the same limit. See the WLFI governance page.
Where do rewards come from?
From one shared rewards pool, paid in USD1. The pool may be funded from ecosystem sources, which may include fees from World Liberty Markets. The pool address will be published.
Is the reward rate fixed?
No. It moves with the size of the rewards pool and the total $WLFI staked, so any figure is an estimate. Your rewards also depend on how long each amount has been staked; tokens added later earn only from the date they are added.
What is "Your reward rate (estimated)"?
Your reward rate shows rewards accrued since you staked or last restaked, expressed as an estimated annual rate using your stake's current USD value. It reflects your staking history; the rate at the top of the page reflects today's pool rate. Your rate can fluctuate significantly early on and change when you add tokens or WLFI's price changes. It resets after restaking. It excludes gains or losses in WLFI's value, and future rewards are not guaranteed.
Your reward rate (%) = (USD value of the USD1 rewards accrued ÷ stake's current USD value) × (365 ÷ days since staking or restaking) × 100. Both USD values use oracle prices for USD1 and $WLFI, and days count fractions of a day.
Is the rewards program permanent?
No. It is a promotion and can change or end at any time.
Can staking be paused?
Yes. Staking can be paused, for example to respond to a security risk. While it is paused, you cannot stake, add to a stake or restake. After your 180 days, you can still claim and unstake, or unstake and forfeit your rewards.
